뉴질랜드 링컨대학교(Lincoln University) 조경학 과정의 40주년을 맞아 11월 20일부터 22일까지 개최되는 축하행사에 앞서 열리게 되는 이번 워크샵은 생태와 설계가 성공적으로 융합되는 방법을 찾고, 향후 도시생태와 생태설계에 대한 연구와 교육의 방향을 정립하는 것을 목표로 한다. 급변하는 세계 속에서 현재는 과거 그 어느 때보다 종다양성의 위기, 사회, 기후, 경제와 관련하여 도시 생태와 설계의 역할을 올바르게 이해하는 것이 중요한 상황이다.
두 명의 세계적인 전문가가 기조연설을 할 예정이며, 다른 연구자들의 발표 초록도 모집하고 있다.
생태와 설계의 융합과 관련하여, 통합, 미래 방향, 그리고 장애를 줄이거나 극복하는 것과 관련된 주제에 우선권이 주어질 것이며, 발표에 포함되지 못한 제출자들은 포스터 발표를 할 수 있다. 조직위원회는 선정된 발표자들의 원고를 저널의 특별판에 전문 게재할 계획이다.

Urban Ecology and Ecological Design :
Perspectives on Integration and Future Directions
Call for abstracts. 18-19th November 2009, Lincoln University, Christchurch, New Zealand. This workshop will be held in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the Landscape Architecture Programme at Lincoln University, New Zealand from 20th - 22nd November. The main goals of the proposed workshop are to identify ways in which ecology and design can be successfully integrated and to determine future research and teaching directions in urban ecology and ecological design. Now more than ever there is a need to understand the role of urban ecology and design in dealing with social, climatic, economic and biodiversity crises in a rapidly changing world. Two outstanding international specialists will deliver keynote addresses and participants are invited to deliver presentations on their own research. In this regard prospective speakers are requested to submit a 300 word abstract to Associate Professor Glenn Stewart (stewartg@lincoln.ac.nz) by the 22nd August 2009. The number of slots for speakers is limited so the organising committee will ascertain which talks will be included and the successful speakers notified by the 29th August, 2009. Priority will be given to submissions that deal with integration, future directions, and facilitating/overcoming barriers to integration of ecology and design. Others whose talks could not be included are cordially invited to submit poster presentations. The organising committee will invite selected contributors after the workshop to submit full papers for a special edition of the journal Landscape Review. Participants are encouraged to stay on after the workshop (20-22nd November) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Landscape Architecture Programme at Lincoln University and the grand opening of the new purpose built Landscape Architecture building.
