| Recent literatures pertaining to the taxonomy, biology and relation to disease of the mosquitoes of Korea by KOBAYASHI, LulcornerCulcorner and YAMAGUTI reveal that there are 23 species of mosquitoes belonging to 4 genera of the Culicinae in Korea. These studies were based principally in Japan, and also most of authors quoted some other species found in neigh-bouring countries as possible species occurring in Korea because of their paleoarctic distributional characteristics. However, the author`s past year`s surveys throughout the country. Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, Uijongbu, Chuncheon, Wonjoo, Taegu, Kwangnung, Pohang, Pusan areas and two islands of Chjudo, Paekyongdo 1950-1956, reveal that there are 35 species belonging to 7 genera of the Culicinae occuring in South Korea as summarized below:(see Table 3 of hereinbefore) Anophelini; 5 species Culicini; 14 species Aedeni; 12species Megarhinini; 1species Armigeres; 1species Mansonia; 1species This result was based on 2,902 larval collections, 134 light trap and 67 bite collections. |
