| In order to compare the enzyme activity of bacterioplankton with that of epiphytic bacteria on submerged macrophytes (Potamogeton crispus L.) ${eta}-glucosidase$, cellobiohydrolase and alkaline phosphatase activities in Lake Moon-chon were measured, based on an increase in fluorescence as the nonfluorescent methylumbelliferyl substrates were enzymatically hydrolyzed, leading to the highly fluorescent molecule 4-methylumbelliferone (MUF). At the same time, total number of bacterioplankton and that of epiphytic bacteria were determined. The peak of ${eta}-glucosidase$ of epiphytic bacteria was recorded with the 1-month time interval after that of bacterioplankton, and cellobiohydrolase activities of epiphytic bacteria were significantly higher than those of bacterioplankton. Whereas the alkaline phosphatase activities of epiphytic bacteria were low except October, at time of macrophytes decomposition, their activities of bacterioplankton were peaked in correlation to algae bloom and macrophytes decomposition. These indicate that the beds of submerged macrophytes in Lake Moon-chon probably playa major role as nutrient source, especially carbohydrate-pool for their recycling. |
