´ëûȣ¿¡¼­ 1999³â 4¿ùºÎÅÍ 10¿ù±îÁö 25ÁÖ°£¿¡ °ÉÃÄ ÀÌÈ­ÇÐÀû, »ý¹°ÇÐÀû ¼öÁú°ú geosmin ³óµµ¸¦ Á¶»çÇÏ¿´´Ù. GeosminÀº ´ëºÎºÐ ´ÊÀº ¿©¸§¿¡ 1.16~5.28 ng $L^{-1}$ÀÇ ³óµµ·Î ÃÑ 5ȸ °ËÃâµÇ¾ú´Ù. GeosminÀÇ °¡Àå ³ôÀº ³óµµ´Â 8¿ù 31ÀÏ·Î Á¶»çµÇ¾úÀ¸¸ç, phycocyanin ³óµµ, cyanobacteria ¼¼Æ÷¼ö, Anabaena spiroides ¼¼Æ÷¼ö µîÀÌ ÃÖ°íÁ¶¿¡ ´ÞÇÏ´Â ½Ã±â¿Í ÀÏÄ¡ÇÏ¿´´Ù. Geosmin ³óµµ¿Í ȯ°æ¿äÀΰúÀÇ »ó°üºÐ¼®¿¡ ÀÇÇϸé geosmin »ý»êÀº ¼ö¿Â, pH ÃÑ¿ëÁ¸ÀÎ ±×¸®°í, A. spiroides ¼¼Æ÷¼ö¿¡ ÀÇÇÏ¿© Å©°Ô °áÁ¤µÇ´Â °ÍÀ¸·Î º¸ÀδÙ. Geosmin »ý»êÀº ¼ö¿Â, $27^{circ}C,$ pH´Â 8.5, ÃÑ¿ëÁ¸ÀÎÀº 0.06 mg$L^{-1},$ ÀÌ»óÀÇ Á¶°Ç¿¡¼­ ³ªÅ¸³µ´Ù. ÀÌ¿Í °°Àº Á¶°Ç¿¡¼­ A. spiroides ¼¼Æ÷¼ö°¡ 10,000$mL^{-1},$ ÀÌ»óÀÇ Á¶°Ç¿¡¼­ ³ªÅ¸³µ´Ù.
