Estimating a reliable and optimal parameters in applying a hydrologic model is still difficult in spite of their importance. Understanding hydrologic response of the model according to physical range of parameters will improve the possibility to estimate highly reliable parameters. The goal of this study is to explore the problems that may be caused in lowflow simulation according to variation of the parameter of Tank model that has been known to have excellent applicability in a long-term runoff analysis in various humid climate areas. This study analyzed the storage depth variation of the fourth storage tank, which simulate baseflow component, and investigated the change of the stability period according to each parameter. This study also evaluated the lowflow behavior according to the variation of the runoff hole coefficient of the fourth storage tank A4. The results show that the period required for stability of the fourth storage tank was 2 - 20 years depending on model parameters. The variation of A4 hardly influenced the statistical values of the simulated flow. It also reveal that the upper limits of A4 for simulating streamflow under arrange low discharge (Q275) is 0.001, when the optimal parameters obtained by Powell's method are used. It can be concluded that the analysis for obtaining stability periods of the fourth tank and the physical range of A4 parameter should be performed to estimate reliable lowflow analysis using a Tank model. |
