Yeouido Saetgang Ecology Park

여의도샛강생태공원은 1997년 9월에 조성된 국내 최초의 생태공원으로, 여의도의 샛강을 환경친화구역으로 바꾸고 자연학습장소로 활용하기 위하여 만들어졌다. 공원조성 이후 생태공원은 도심 속에서 안정된 생태계를 형성한 중요한 생태자원으로서 보존가치가 높아지게 되었다. 하지만 생태공원을 이용하기 위한 시설이 갖추어지지 않아 시민들의 참여가 용이하지 못하여 어린이들의 자연학습과 시민들의 휴식이 가능한 생태공원 조성과 한강 생태거점 확충을 통한 동서 생태축 조성을 목표로 재조성공사가 진행되었다. 그리고 새롭게 변화된 모습으로 지난 5월 시민들에게 개방되었다.

여의도샛강생태공원은 폭 130m, 총연장 4.6km 구간이 6개 테마로 조성되어 있으며, 여의도 상류 부분을‘여의경관구역’, 63빌딩에서 여의교 구간은‘수질정화 습지구역’, 여의교에서 서울교까지는‘생태체험 학습구역’, 서울교에서 파천교까지는 ‘버들문화구역’, 파천교에서 국회의사당까지는‘생태보존구역’, 여의하류 부분은‘둔치경관탐방구역’으로 구성되어 있다.

The purpose of Yeouido Saetgang Ecology Park established in September, 1997, the first Ecology Park in Korea, was built for utilizing places for learning nature and turning Yeouido creek into eco-friendly area. After successful construction, it has evaluated as the most important ecological resource with stable ecosystem in urban environment. However, another phase has that active participation of citizens was not easy without enough facilities around there. Accordingly, the remodeling construction was newly planned to build Ecology Park, which provides places for learning and taking a rest for children and citizens, and to expand ecological stronghold area for building East-West ecological axis. Then, it newly opened to citizens in May, 2010.

Yeouido Saetgang Ecology Park, which has 130m widths and 4.6㎞ lengths, consists of 6 theme areas: ‘Scenery Area’ ‘Water Purification Wetland’ ‘Culture Area’ ‘Ecology Preservation Area’and ‘Riverside Visiting Area’
