소트빌 르 루엔(Sotteville-les-Rouen)에 위치한 마르셀 셈바 고등학교는 학교를 가로지르는 도로로 인해 두 부분으로 나누어지고, 연결건물을 통해 다시 결합되는 특징을 갖고 있다. 1930년대에서 1990년대에 걸쳐 총 6개의 건물이 개별적으로 지어졌으며, 정남 방향으로 공원이 위치해 있다. 프로젝트의 목적은 이 고등학교를 되살리고, 확장하는 것이다. 본 지면을 통해 본 프로젝트에서 가장 규모가 큰 부분, 즉 건물에 시각적 정체성을 부여하는 새로운 작업장 건물을 소개하고자 한다.
마르셀 셈바 고등학교에서 이 건물은 자동차 및 차량 정비에 관한 기술 교육을 실시하는 데 주로 사용된다. 이로 인해 높은 천장을 지닌 넓은 공간이 요구된다. 우리는 쉽고 단순하게 프로젝트를 풀어가기 위해 작업장을 부드러운 선으로 공원과 연결하였다. 그리고 건물 두 개동의 철거, 작업장들의 재배치, 그리고 산업 기술 교육 공간 마련 등을 제안하였고, 작업장과 관련된 모든 기능들을 하나의 건물에 집약했다.
이 건물은 공원과의 경계선에서 시작해 학교 전체와 자연스런 조화를 이루고, 식물을 심은 야트막한 지붕이 보여주는 물결치는 듯한 디자인은 다양한 곡선을 만들어낸다. 나무 그늘에 가려진 공원 가장자리의 모습이 슬쩍 엿보이기도 한다.

The Marcel Sembat high school in Sottevillelès-Rouen has the particularity to be crossed by a street and so is separated in two parts reconnected by a bridgebuilding.
A public park is located straight on the south side of the site. The entire school is divided in six buildings of different periods, from 30's to 90's.
The project is a rehabilitation and an extension of the high school. We are presenting here the biggest part of this project, the one that gives his visual identity: the new workshops building.
This part of the Marcel Sembat high school is dedicated to technical teaching about motors and vehicles mechanic. It demands big spaces with high heights and important surfaces.
We opted for simple and easy understandable project, include workshops at the park with smooth lines which are connected to the park floor with their declivity.
We proposed the demolition of two buildings, the reorganization of the workshops and the teaching spaces of industrial technology.
We gather in a building unit all functions related to the workshops.
The building starts at the boundary of the park and fits naturally to the site by the wavy design of its vegetated roof to varying curves and low height. The slight oscillations reveal the fringes of a park in motion in the trees shades.
