일두 고택은 경남 함양군 지곡면 개평리 262-1에 위치하며, 조선 성종 때의 대학자인 정여창(鄭汝昌) 사후(死後)인 1570년대에 후손들이 중건한 것으로, 약 10,000㎡ 의 집터에 솟을대문, 문간채, 사랑채, 안사랑채, 바깥곳간채, 사당, 석가산 등이 자연과 인공이 화합하는 순응의 미학을 공간적, 지형적으로 연계시키고 있다. 지정 당시에는 가옥 소유자의 이름을 따라 함양 정병호 가옥(咸陽 鄭炳鎬 家屋)이라 하였으나, 이 가옥이 일두 정여창의 생거지에 중건한 것임을 반영하여, 2007년 1월 그의 호를 따라 “함양 일두 고택”으로 지정명칭을 변경하였다. 1984년 1월 10일 중요민속자료 제186호로 지정되었다.

Ildu old house
Ildu old house which is located in 262-1, Gaepyeong-ri, Jigokmyeon, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do is 10,000㎡ area. It was a house of Jeong Yeo-Chang, a great scholar, in the King Seongjong’s reign and the present house was reconstructed by his descendants in 1570. Its first name was Jeong Byeong-Ho’s house according to the owner’s name but the name was changed in January, 2007 according to Jeong Yeo-Chang’s pen name because the site was his live branch. The aesthetics of adaption is connected spatially, topographically, and functionally with Anchae, Sarangche, Gamyo and the artificial hill. It was appointed as Important Folk Material no.186 in 10th, January, 1984.
