미국 조경가협회는 지난 1일 전문가 부문과 학생부문으로 나누어 진행했던 공모전 결과를 각각 발표했다.

 

올해 공모전은 미국을 중심으로 세계 전역에서 시행된 공공장소, 지역, 캠퍼스, 공원 그리고 도시설계 프로젝트를 대상으로 작품을 접수받았다.

 

ASLA 전문가 부문에는 530여 프로젝트가 접수돼, 33개가 선정됐다. 학생공모에서는 390개가 넘는 작품이 제출되어 26개가 뽑혔다.

 

한인으로는 학생공모에서 펜실베니아 대학의 조용준, 이경근 팀이 ‘General Design Category’에 선정(Honor Awards)되었다.

이들이 제안한 ‘The Horizontal Dike’는 마이애미 지역, 해수면 상승으로부터 도시를 보호하기 위해 인공구조에 자연 시스템을 적용한 새로운 유형의 인프라 구조이다.

 

관심을 모았던 전문가 ‘General Design’부문 최우수상은 Lakewood Garden Mausoleum & Lakewood Cemetery를 설계시공했던 ‘Halvorson Design Partnership’사에게 돌아갔다. 대부분 미국 업체의 작품이 선정됐고, SWA Group 3개 프로젝트를 명단에 올리며, 눈길을 끌었다.

 

미국 조경가협회는 오는 11 18() 보스턴에서 개최되는 연례회의에서 공모전 시상식을 갖는다고 밝혔다.
