녹지 광장인 마틸드플라인은 아인트호반 도심의 분주함 속에 평화와 고요함을 제공하고 있다. 아인트호반의 중심부 메인 교차로에는 라이트 타워가 위치해 있다. 쉽게 눈에 띄는 이 건물은 도시의 상징물이다. 과거 필립스 사의 건물로 아인트호반의 도상학에서 항상 중요한 역할을 해온 산업 유산으로서, 최근에는 고급 주상복합 타워로 개축되었다. 예전에는 건물의 외부 공간에 중요한 공공 기능이 없었지만, 뷔로 뤼버르스는 이 곳을 조용한 녹지 광장으로 탈바꿈시켰다. 사람들은 쇼핑을 마친 후나 사무실에서 긴 하루를 보낸 뒤, 테라스에서 조용히 한 잔 하거나 울창한 수목 사이에 놓인 벤치에 앉아 정신 없이 바쁜 도시의 일상에서 잠시나마 벗어날 수 있다. 이 새로운 광장은 나름의 방식으로 아인트호반의 중요 아이콘 중 하나인 라이트 타워를 강조하고 있다.

As green square, Mathildeplein offers peace and quiet in the hectic city centre of Eindhoven.
In the heart of Eindhoven, at an important traffic junction, the Light Tower is situated. It is a striking building that is a recognizable symbol of the city. As the former Philips building, an industrial monument, it has always played a prominent role in the iconography of Eindhoven. Recently it was transformed into a luxury residential and office tower. Whereas before the building’ exterior space did not have a significant public function, Buro Lubbers transformed it into a green, tranquil square. Here, after shopping or a long day at the office, one can quietly enjoy a drink on the terrace or sit down on a bench among lush plants to escape the frenetic activity of downtown Eindhoven. In its own serene way the new square highlights one of Eindhoven’ major icons, the Light Tower.
