For the New Future of <ELA>

최근 글로벌 경제 위기 속에서 우리 조경분야는 안팎으로 많은 어려움에 직면해있습니다. 산림청의 도시숲 법안을 비롯하여 도시디자인, 경관, 공공디자인, 도시농업, 정원, 어린이 놀이터 총량법안 등 지난 한 해동안에도 우리 조경의 업역에 대한 도전들이 끊이지 않았고 앞으로도 계속 될 것입니다. 이제 우리 조경계는 하나로 힘을 모을 때입니다. 지난 40년간 괄목할 만한 성장을 통해 누렸던 호시절의 달콤했던 미련을 버리고 새로운 미래를 향해 나아가야 합니다.
앞으로 <환경과조경>은 새로운 변화와 혁신을 통해 제2의 도약을 해 나가겠습니다. 먼저 <환경과조경>은 더욱 가까이 조경인 여러분 곁으로 다가가겠습니다. 조경인들의 열정과 현장의 목소리를 충실히 담아내고 힘을 모으는 구심체가 되도록 하겠습니다. 또한 우리의 업역을 확고히 지키고, 나아가 미래 우리 분야의 새로운 영역을 확장시켜나가기 위한 길에도 발 벗고 나설 것입니다. 그리고 우리 사회에 조경의 중요성을 널리 알리고, 건축과 도시 등 인접분야는 물론이고 다양한 문화, 예술분야 등과의 교류와 접목을 시도해가면서 보다 많은
시민적 공감대를 형성시켜 나가기 위하여 노력할 것입니다. 이미 세계적 수준에 이른 한국 조경의 국제적 위상을 높이기 위해 글로벌 시장으로의 진출을 위한 견인차 역할도 충실히 해 나가겠습니다.
끝으로 지난 30여 년간 오늘의 <환경과조경>이 있기까지 혼신의 정열을 기울여 오신 오휘영 회장님과 <환경과조경> 가족 여러분들께 다시 한 번 감사의 말씀을 올립니다. 또한 그동안 <환경과조경>을 아끼고 사랑해 주신 조경인 여러분들의 변함없는 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

Undergoing the global economic downturn, the landscape architecture industry is being faced with many difficulties. We’re aware that the enactment of Urban Forest Law led by Korea Forest Service and a variety of attempts have invaded the domain of landscape architecture and challenged the professionalism of the industry. Now we should muck in with each other, leaving behind the sweet memories of the last 40 years when we could witness the remarkable growth of the industry and expanding our horizon for the future.
From now on, <ELA> will strive to create and enjoy a renaissance by actively innovating itself. First, the magazine will try to get closer to the readers, landscape architects. It will make each and every voice of the industry clearly heard, playing a pivotal role in developing new fields of practices as well as keeping our original business area. Furthermore, the magazine will provide the society with information on what the industry is doing and how important that is, and promote cooperation with the world of culture and art, not to mention architecture and urban engineering. It will also serve as a driving force for the Korean landscape architecture to expand its businesses in the global market by enhancing its competitiveness.
Finally, I would thank Mr. Oh Whee Young and all the members of ‘Environment and Landscape Architecture Korea’ again for their enthusiasm and excellence dedicated to the success of the magazine today. I also expect constant encouragement and support from my fellow landscape architects. Thank you.
